What is channeling?
Spirit (a form of higher consciousness) communicates using a normal human body to write and speak. The person doing the communication, called a channel, enters a trance state and allows their conscious mind to be overridden by spirit. The voice, speech patterns, and bodily movements may change when spirit merges with the physical body.
This type of communication, which is now called channeling, has been going on ever since early man. For centuries man has been acting as an intermediary for the unseen spiritual realms, such as shaman's, medicine men and women, high priests, yogis, gurus, mystics, oracles, seers, soothsayers, witch-doctors, healers, and visionaries. They would put themselves in an altered state of consciousness using herbs, plants, chanting, fasting, singing, dancing, meditation or sleep deprivation. After connecting with spiritual realms they would then bring back messages, information or healing to those they were serving.
Prophets and Sages have channeled messages given to them by Spirit. The Bible is full of references to people hearing voices or having visions, such as Abraham, Moses, Isaiah, and David. Religious prophets such as Mohammed, Joseph Smith of the Mormon Church, and George Fox with the Quakers had information channeled to them. Ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Babylonians, and Celts also had their visionaries and oracles. Joan of Arc had been given her tasks three times by voices. Native Americans communicate with the spirit of their ancestors. and Chinese Channels were called ‘Wu'. Edgar Cayce is one of the most well known western channels of recent time. He was known as the sleeping prophet.
Today there are many, many channels around the world bringing in the word of spirit. |
